Think again if you believe vinegar is only useful for salads. Vinegar is an excellent home treatment for removing dirt of any kind.
What are the 9 Surprising Practical Uses For Vinegar in The Household?
1. Clean the dishwasher
Every day, your dishwasher is in use, washing your dishes thoroughly. Who, on the other hand, cleans your dishwasher? Pour a cup of vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher and run it once. If you do this once or twice a month, any residue will be removed, and the machine will be spotless.
2. Descale the shower heads
Do you have a shower head that's also calcified? In a basin, combine half a cup of vinegar and boiling water. Allow the limescale to dissolve by soaking the showerhead for about 10 minutes. If removing the showerhead is difficult, place the vinegar in a plastic bag and tape it to the showerhead. You can shower after an hour if you leave it on.
3. Clean the tiles
To clean dirty tiles and grout, make your own detergent. Combine half a cup of vinegar with half a cup of ammonia, then add 1/4 cup of borax to the mixture. Add another 4 liters of water now. Complete. Spray or rub the solution on the tiles, and you'll be amazed at how soon they appear brand new again. Allow to air dry after rinsing thoroughly with water.
4. Banish the smell of smoke
Cigarette smoke contains tar and resin, which can adhere to your furniture and leave a foul odor long after the smoke has dissipated. Rinse vinegar on flat surfaces, let it remain for a few minutes, and then wipe it away with a dry towel to erase the stench. This procedure may need to be repeated several times. The vinegar should not, however, be sprayed on textiles.
5. Save a dried up brush
In the future, you won't have to throw away your dried-up brush. Soak it in a cup of vinegar for a few minutes to loosen the bristles. The brush should then be washed in warm, soapy water. Is it still in one piece? It's no problem. Boil the brush in vinegar for around 10 minutes before putting it in a soapy water bath for a few minutes. Let it dry, and it looks like brand new again.
6. Clean wooden floors
Clean your hardwood floor in the traditional manner. Half a cup of vinegar should be added to your hot cleaning water. You can now wipe as usual. Then, using my towel, dry your floor because too much moisture is bad for your wooden floor. However, you should not use vinegar on waxed floors since it will cause the wax to peel off.
Add a few drops of essential oil to the vinegar to mask the odor. The aroma of lemon is one of my favorites. Perhaps you enjoy it as well.
7. Remove the grate
Soak rusted instruments in fully concentrated vinegar for many days to renew them. Rinse the tools with clean water and allow them to dry completely once the rust has been gone. This procedure is also applicable to nuts and bolts.
8. Insect repellent
Fill a covered container with a cup of apple cider vinegar to make an environmentally friendly insect trap. Now shake the jar vigorously with finely chopped banana peels and a cup of cold water.
Now puncture a few holes in the lid and hang the container in the garden or on the ground anywhere you don't want to be disturbed. You'll notice how many insects you've already trapped with your trap in no time.
9. Clean the clogged drain
Pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain that is plugged. Then you dump a cup of vinegar on the floor. It will foam and bubble. Rinse the drain with hot water once this stops. After that, you wait 5 minutes before rinsing with cold water. Like other drain cleaners, this tip is quite effective, non-toxic, and is not detrimental to the pipes (it also saves you money).
